During the IELTS speaking exam the examiner will ask you a series of questions. The questions will be simple such as, “Do people in your country do a lot of exercise?”. This does not mean that your answers should be so simple. For instance, giving the answer "No", would be a bad answer, and your examiner may ask you to elaborate. To get a high score on your exam you should expand on your answers.
To expand your answers try using opinion phrases:
- In my opinion
“In my opinion, many people in my country are too lazy to exercise.
- I believe
“I believe that the obesity problem in my country could be solved if everyone in my country did more exercise.”
- I would argue
“People in my country do not exercise enough. I would argue that the government needs to build more exercise facilities in schools and communities.”
- My impression is that
“My impression is that my country does not do nearly enough exercise”
- It seems to me that
“People in my country do not exercise much. Obesity is a real problem in my country. It seems to me that if people did more exercise then obesity would not be as big of an issue. benefits of exercise.
