Talking about the weekend:

 

Asking about the past weekend:

After the weekend is over, you can ask about it with these expressions:

How was your weekend?

Did you get up too much last weekend?

Did you do anything fun last weekend?

How did you spend your weekend?

 

Short answers with an adjective:

Busy, Hectic

Awesome, amazing, epic

Not bad, pretty good, so-so

Boring, nothing special, uneventful

Relaxing, laid-back

 

Common phrases:

 If you had a good weekend:

My weekend was amazing.

My weekend was so much fun.

My weekend was epic.

 

If you had a relaxing weekend:

My weekend was very laid-back.

My weekend was very relaxing.

 

If your weekend was boring:

My weekend was uneventful.

My weekend was boring.

I didn’t get up too much this weekend.

 

Weekend activities:

Going out:

I met up with friends.

I went out with a bunch of friends.

I saw a movie.

I played basketball.

I went hiking.

I went for dinner.

 

At home:

I spent the whole weekend studying.

I laid in bed all weekend watching Netflix

I stayed at home and took it easy.

I cleaned the house.

I played video games.

 

Example dialogue:

Person A:“How was your weekend?”

Person B:“It was amazing!”

Person A:“What did you get up to?”

Person B: “On Friday night I met up with friends. We went for dinner and saw a movie. Saturday was laid-back. I laid in bed and watched Netflix. It was nice and relaxing. Sunday was very hectic. I played basketball in the morning, went hiking in the afternoon then went out with a bunch of friends at night. How did you spend your weekend?”

Person A: My weekend was uneventful. I stayed at home. I laid in bed and watched Netflix and studied for my English exam. On Sunday I cleaned the house. It was a very boring weekend.”
