Visit of Thai Minister of Education, and SEAMEO Council President
On December 16 – 17, 2009, H. E. Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit, Minister of Education, Thailand, cum 44th SEAMEO Council President, paid a visit to the SEAMEO Regional Training Center in Vietnam. Joining the delegation were Dr. Vichai Vanadurongwan, Vice Minister of Education, Thailand, and Dato Dr. Ahamad bin Sipon, SEAMEO Secretariat Director, and members of the Ministry of Education, Thailand.
The welcome ceremony also had the presence of the representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam. The delegation was briefed on the Center’s activities of 2009 and plans for action in 2010 and beyond , in which emphasis will continue to be placed on major activities and services related to educational management and leadership, ICT, teaching and learning methods, and quality assurance and accreditation in education.

The Minister congratulated the achievements, especially the international cooperation with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, and collaboration with SEAMEO regional centers such as RELC (Singapore), INNOTECH (Philippines), SEAMOLEC (Indonesia), and RIHED (Thailand). The Minister suggested the Center should continue to strengthen its international collaboration, including joint ventures with Thai institutions in order to become one of the leading training centers in the region.
