Educational Forum on “Enhancing Training Quality in Basic Education in the SEA Region”
On September 20, 2012, SEAMEO RETRAC successfully hosted an educational forum, namely “Enhancing Training Quality in Basic Education in the SEA Region” at SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. The forum was conducted back to back with its 15th Governing Board Meeting.
The forum served as a platform for exchange and discussion of ideas and issues with regards to current models of basic education in each Member Country, teaching innovation, linkage of school and family education, and challenges facing basic education in each Member Country.
The forum was presented by Dr. Handoko, Deputy Director for Program & Development, SEAMEO Secretariat; Mr. Tran Ba Viet Dzung, Director General, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam; Mr. Ung Ngo Hok, Director, General Secondary Education Department, Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports, Cambodia; Mr. Manogaran Suppiah, Executive Director, Academy of Singapore Teachers, Ministry of Education, Singapore; Mr. Khounmy Phommanimith, Director General of Institute for Education Management Development, Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao PDR; and Mr. Timbul Pardede, Training Manager, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC.
The forum attracted the participation of 131 local teachers, lectures and educational experts, who took this chance to share their experiences, points of view to boost the development as well as to encourage the cooperation in the field of basic education in the SEA region.
