The 15th SEAMEO RETRAC Governing Board Meeting was convened from September 19-21, 2012 at SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. The meeting was held back to back with the Educational Forum on Enhancing Training Quality in Basic Education in the SEA Region.

On September 20, 2012, SEAMEO RETRAC successfully hosted an educational forum, namely “Enhancing Training Quality in Basic Education in the SEA Region” at SEAMEO RECSAM in Penang, Malaysia. The forum was conducted back to back with its 15th Governing Board Meeting.
The forum served as a platform for exchange and discussion of ideas and issues with regards to current models of basic education in each Member Country, teaching innovation, linkage of school and family education, and challenges facing basic education

40 Math teachers and 100 teachers of English attended the opening ceremony of the intensive English training courses at SEAMEO RETRAC on August 27, 2012.
